In observance of World Food Safety Day [June 7], National Flour Mills Limited joins other food and beverage producers throughout the globe to recognize the vital role of food safety practitioners in raising awareness and inspiring action to help prevent, detect and manage foodborne risks.
This year’s theme: ‘Safe Food Today for a Healthy Tomorrow’ highlights the need for safe production systems to maintain the health of our people, the planet and the economy given that they are all interconnected. NFM is mindful of the direct impact of food safety practices on human health, food security, and sustainable development, and thus supports the modernization of safety standards for all segments of the food industry— from farm to plate.
As a corporate entity, NFM’s Food Safety and Quality Policy is implemented and maintained through its Food Safety and Quality Management System (FSQMS), strong and effective leadership, and the involvement of its stakeholders. Within the Quality Department, the Food Safety Unit supports operational areas by developing and coordinating processes to strengthen our food safety culture and by conducting training to keep employees aware of food safety best practices.
