Food and feed manufacturer National Flour Mills Limited (NFM) welcomed the class of 2nd year BSc Agriculture students of The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine campus (UWI), for a tour of its feed production plant on March 23, 2026.
The group of 24 students, accompanied by Dr. Martin Hughes, Senior Lecturer, Animal Nutrition and Forage Management, had a firsthand look at NFM’s feed manufacturing and formulation processes to fulfil course requirements on the fundamentals of animal nutrition.
Topics covered throughout the tour included general classification of feed products, types and sources of raw materials and ingredients, nutrition requirements, and quality control. The students appreciated this opportunity to translate classroom concepts into real-life practices and gain practical insight into career options in the feed production sector.
As a leading feed manufacturer, NFM was pleased to support this group of future agricultural specialists by helping them become more aware of the skills, knowledge, and standards needed for sustainable animal feed production.
